| History:
A 42 y/o left handed male complains of pain and swelling in his left forearm which radiates to his wrists especially with movements of the wrist. The pain and swelling has been gradually increasing over the past two months. He denies any acute trauma. His activities include a desk job with multiple hours typing, racquetball 3 times a week, weight lifting, and occasion home repair work. He has tried NSAIDs, ice, ACE bandage, and rest with minimal improvement. He has seen his primary care physician and was diagnosed with an overuse injury and was told to rest from aggravating activities. The symptoms still persist and he was referred to our clinic for a second opinion. He denies any other PMH and is on no medications regularly. The family history is non-contributory. He denies use of tobacco, EtOH, and drugs. |
| Physical Exam:
LUE evaluation - Moderate swelling of dorsal aspect of forearm (see picture). No erythema. Gross sensation intact. ROM/strength of wrist, elbow, supination, pronation are normal but causes pain in forearm. Finkelstein’s test is positive for pain. Extensor tendon testing is positive for pain. Pain with abduction of thumb.
